A ‘Done For You’ Welcome Sequence.

What do you do when someone knocks on the door?

Do you…

A) Turn up the TV and hide behind the sofa, hoping they’ll go away

B) Bark and pretend to be your own guard dog in hopes of scaring them away

C) Open up the door and greet them like a human being.

I’m betting it's C (though hearing you bark like a dog would be entertaining).

Yet so many companies forget to open the door and give their visitors some love.

Yes, I’m talking about the welcome sequence.

Think of the welcome sequence like your Big Aunt Bette, you know the aunt that has to hug everyone whom she meets and makes you feel warm and welcome.

Big Aunt Bette opens the door, says hello, gives you a hug, and makes people feel welcome in your home, whether you’re there to greet them right away or not.

She doesn’t just open the door and walk away while strangers wander through your house.

That’s how you wind up with people digging through your underwear drawer, creepy.

Yet that’s what’s happening every time someone visits your website and signs up for your email list and then hears… *crickets*

They’re left to their own devices to figure out what to do and where to go, and before long, they have stolen your favorite glow-in-the-dark Halloween bralette and bounce.

When someone signs up for your list, you want to roll out the red carpet and show them to the VIP lounge. Invite them in, show them around, treat them like royalty, and share an enticing offer or two.

Make it easy for them to give you their money… that’s how you transform a browser into a buyer (who eventually becomes a raving fan).

If you haven’t made a welcome sequence part of your email strategy yet, then let’s get you a Big Aunt Bette of your very own (and of course when I say Better I mean your welcome sequence).
